In this course, you will learn techniques for using Bash security settings, using quotation marks and double dash correctly in Bash, setting default file permissions, protecting temporary files, canonicalizing paths, preventing command injection, handling errors in Bash scripts, and using crontab.

Learning Objectives

On successful completion of this course, learners should have the knowledge and skills to:

  • Discuss techniques for handling errors and exceptions in shell scripts and interpreted languages
  • Identify common syntax pitfalls and dangerous functions to avoid (including eval)
  • Apply techniques for preventing or mitigating different vulnerabilities including different types of injection
