Course Description

This lab simulates a cross-site scripting vulnerability that can be found in an online banking application built using Node.js which fails to validate input and encode output. Using Visual Studio Code participants will determine whether the data is correctly encoded for the context in which it will appear in web application output.

Learning Objectives

On successful completion of this course, learners should have the knowledge and skills required to:

  • Identify a cross-site scripting vulnerabilities in an application written using Node.js
  • Fix cross-site scripting vulnerabilities without making any unnecessary changes to the code or the system
  • Determine if data is correctly encoded
