Course Description

During this course, students will be introduced to the installation, configuration, and management of a Linux Raspbian operating system using Raspberry Pi hardware. At the end of this course, students will be able to understand the basic functions of the Linux operating system including the role of the system administrator. The course will discuss such topics as running the Linux system, using the graphical user interface (GUI), the Linux command line system, the Linux shell and text files and basic administration tasks.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the quarter the student will be able to do the following:

  • Assemble and Connect a Raspberry PI
  • Safely Install the Raspbian Operation System Via Open Source download
  • Use basic Linux commands to navigate the Raspbian operating system
  • Navigate and conduct basic file and folder manipulation in the Linux operating system
  • Writing basic scripts for use with the Raspbian and PI
  • Connecting and using peripherals with the PI
  • Scanning networks and passwords with Raspbian
