This course explores data management and its enabling technologies as key components for improving mission effectiveness through the development of open, enterprise-wide, and state-of-the-art data architectures. It examines management issues such as the implementation of the data component of the Enterprise Architecture specified by OMB.
Learning Objectives
- The course considers key data management strategies, including the DOD Net-Centric Data Strategy, and the Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) Data Reference Model and their enabling information technologies including data warehousing, electronic archiving, data mining, neural networks, and other knowledge discovery methodologies.
- Students explore data management issues and implementation.
- The course provides sufficient insight into the underlying technologies to ensure that students can evaluate the capabilities and limitations of data management options and strategies.
