Summer Cyber Fun for K-12 Teachers

Congratulations to all K-12 educators and school administrators on a successful 2023-2024 school year! According to the National Center for Education Statistics, there are over 49 million students and more than 3 million teachers in the public school system. That’s a lot of papers to grade! NICCS is proud to offer no-cost resources, tools, and information for our nation’s K-12 communities that not only support cybersecurity curriculums but help keep schools and districts safe from cyberattacks. Explore the resources below to learn more.

Cybersecurity for Teachers

Teachers are responsible for educating the next generation of cybersecurity professionals sitting in today’s classrooms, yet not all teachers are cybersecurity experts. NICCS, through CYBER.ORG, offers free professional development workshops to help teachers learn how to incorporate cyber concepts into existing lesson plans as well as provide cybersecurity curricula. Also, NICCS provides a variety of no-cost federal government resources such as videos, tip cards, fact sheets, and more on the Cybersecurity for Teachers page.

Cybersecurity for School Administrators

School administrators face more cyber threats than ever as our education system becomes increasingly reliant on technology. CISA and other federal government agencies are committed to providing training, resources, and tools to help school leadership protect, mitigate, and respond to cyber threats in their schools. Learn how to assess and strengthen your school’s security to build resilience as well as how to report incidents within your district. The Cybersecurity for School Administrators page on NICCS has a curated list of free and low-cost cybersecurity resources and training.

Cybersecurity Competitions & Games

Looking for fun and interactive ways to get your students interested in cybersecurity? Check out the Cybersecurity Competitions & Games page on NICCS for simulations and activities that CISA helps sponsor. With competitions and games for K-12 students, college students, teachers, and working professionals, we have something for everyone!

The NICCS team wants to thank our nation’s K-12 teachers and administrators for everything they do to educate the next generation of cyber professionals. We hope that you have a wonderful summer and take some much-needed time to rest and relax. During your free time, we encourage you to check out these resources on NICCS and think about how you can use them to enhance your cybersecurity curriculums for next school year. Be sure to share them with your colleagues too!
