This Veterans Day, we celebrate, honor, and thank all Veterans that have served and sacrificed for our country’s freedom and safety. As America’s Cyber Defense Agency, CISA understands the importance of protecting our nation from physical and cyber threats from foreign adversaries. With over 469,000 open cybersecurity positions across the U.S., our cybersecurity workforce needs qualified, capable professionals to apply. Veterans and those transitioning out of the military possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to be successful in cyber.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, over 250,000 Veterans are unemployed. Looking for your next career move? The NICCS website has the tools and resources needed to help Veterans thrive in the cyber workforce. Explore the Cybersecurity for Veterans page and the Veterans User Guide which includes a variety of tools and resources to help Veterans begin/advance their career in cybersecurity such as free online training and certification prep courses, information on cybersecurity-related degree programs, scholarship options, etc.
For institutions and organizations serving Veterans, check out the Veterans Communications Manual to help spread the word about the tools and resources on NICCS. Be sure to sign up for our quarterly newsletter to stay up to date on new career opportunities, cybersecurity conferences and events, new resources and tools on NICCS, cyber/IT-related research, and more.
