Network Infrastructure Systems

This course focuses upon the concepts of network hardware systems that provide interconnection of communication devices. Topics include: network architectures and technologies, concepts such as routing, addressing, and network protocols (TCP/IP and others). Students will be required to setup, configure, and manage wired and wireless network equipment such as switches, routers, access points, and gateways.

  1. Describe current network technologies (Ethernet, Token Ring)
  2. Describe and diagram common LAN topologies
  3. Describe the need for LAN/WAN interconnect technology
  4. Describe hub and switching concepts and technologies
  5. Describe LAN & WAN addressing concepts and methods (subnetting, IPv4 & IPv6)
  6. Describe addressing configuration and control technologies
  7. Describe basic routing concepts and protocols
  8. Describe WAN routing configuration
  9. Design and implement an interconnected LAN system
  10. Design and implement a LAN to WAN connectivity system
  11. Measure, analyze, and tune network performance of different connectivity configurations
  12. Develop and implement an addressing management plan
  13. Develop and implement a routing connection system
