Cybersecurity Fundamentals
This course serves as a foundation course for fundamental cybersecurity knowledge, skills and abilities required for all cybersecurity work roles as defined by the NIST National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) Cybersecurity Workforce Framework. It focuses on the basic elements of cybersecurity, ethical behavior expectations and cybersecurity work roles. It describes common security terms and concepts, including basic system threats and attacks, the actors/agents that would perform them, and addresses mechanisms that can be implemented to secure systems.

Learning Objectives
- Identify basic incident response concepts and categories.
- Determine whether a security incident violates a privacy principle or legal standard requiring specific legal action.
- Explain laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to cybersecurity and privacy.
- Experiment with signature development in intrusion detection and prevention.
- Analyze network packets using appropriate tools.
- Apply incident response and handling methodologies.
- Develop policy, plans, and strategy in compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and standards in support of organizational cyber activities.
- Explain legal and regulatory requirements with regard to incident handling.
