Organizations, Change Management, and Leadership
This course examines both private and public institutions as systems whose effectiveness depends on how an organization adapts to opportunities, threats, and demands (external and internal). Students explore the design and leadership of ethical and socially responsible organizations. In course examples and exercises, students will apply this knowledge to their respective research interests (e.g., cybersecurity, analytics, criminal justice, public health, etc.).

With successful completion of this course, students are able to: 1. Explain the impact of internal structures and cultures on organizational effectiveness. 2. Evaluate organizational impacts of internal and external change. 3. Describe leadership and management techniques for organizational adaptation and learning. 4. Articulate factors contributing to the success or failure of the leader-follower relationship in its pursuit of organizational strategies and objectives.
