Network Virtualization Fundamentals Lab

This course will provide students with application oriented experiences in virtualization technology. Students will learn skills required to use virtualization software in network server environments and build virtual networks, implement high-availability clusters, and enhance performance and security to centralize the management of multiple virtual servers. Upon successful course completion, students will be able to choose a virtualization product, configure operating systems in a virtualization environment, which includes subnetting, DHCP, and DNS schemes that support virtual networks. Students will also be able to develop and design a SANS configuration for supporting a virtual network design.

Learning Objectives

Choose a current virtualization product to use to create your course design project with a hosted hypervisor. Configure the major operating systems in a virtualization environment and load any additional features needed to support the course virtualization project. Design a subnetting system that will support the course design project. Develop and design a DHCP scheme for supporting the class Virtual network design. Develop and design a DNS scheme for supporting your Virtual network design. Setup the necessary components to create a virtual network backbone (Computer name resolution, IP addresses configuration & DNS resolution). Develop and design a SAN configuration for supporting your Virtual network design. Test and implement a final network configuration for supporting your Virtual network design.
