Advanced Defense & Countermeasures Lab

This course will provide students with a hands-on approach to network defense and countermeasures. Students will learn the primary knowledge and skills required for intrusion detection and firewall defense mechanisms. Upon successful course completion, students will be able to develop an enterprise security policy and then implement a policy by configuring firewalls, stateful and stateless packet filtering, intrusion detection systems, and proxy servers.

Learning Objectives

Implement network perimeter devices in accordance with an organizational security policy. Install and configure hardware/software firewall devices as well as tunneling communication technologies to maintain confidentiality. Examine industry leading hardware and software firewall technologies to secure a host network from future attacks. Implement various types of intrusion detection systems (IDSs) and intrusion prevention systems (IPSs). Configure a designed perimeter security using routers, switches, and various other networking hardware devices
