Introduction to Information Technology

Introduction to Information Technology provides a professional overview of using computers. You will be introduced to computers, including their history, hardware, operating systems, program languages, software, databases, networking, data storage, and system security. During this course, you will perform essential IT tasks commonly performed by advanced end-users and entry-level IT professionals. As part of this course, you will complete the current CompTIA IT Fundamentals® exam.

Learning Objectives

The CompTIA IT Fundamentals course will certify the successful student has the knowledge and skills required to identify and explain the basics of:

  • Computing
  • IT infrastructure
  • Software development
  • Database use

In addition, students will demonstrate their knowledge of:

  • Installing software
  • Establishing basic network connectivity
  • Identifying/preventing basic security risks

Further, this exam will assess the student's knowledge in the areas of troubleshooting theory and preventive maintenance of devices. This exam is intended for students who are advanced end users, considering a career in IT, and interested in pursuing professional-level certifications, such as A+.
