Cyber Warfare and Cyber Crime

Cyber criminals are constantly searching for targets and the behaviors of cyber criminals are often very similar if not identical to those engaged in cyber warfare. You will investigate the differences between cyber warfare and cyber crime including the motivations of the participants. You will also identify behaviors of participants and ways that to better protect yourself and your business from attack.

Learning Objectives

  • Distinguish between motivations of people and organizations involved in cyber warfare and cyber crime
  • Identify common attack types and the characteristics of the attackers behind them in order to be able to avoid having information stolen
  • Make use of a conceptual model of the Internet to identify the challenges associated with tracking down criminals globally
  • Examine the different legal systems and jurisdiction issues that impact the ability to pursue criminals globally
