Cloud Foundations

This course gives students an overall understanding of cloud computing concepts, independent of specific technical roles. It provides a detailed overview of cloud concepts, AWS core services, security, architecture, and support. Students are introduced to database administration for relational, NoSQL and cloud systems. Successful completion of this course prepares the student to sit for the AWS Cloud Foundations Certification Exam.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, the student will be able to: Understand the core AWS Cloud services and global infrastructure components as evidenced through multiple choice and short answer quizzes. Apply security and compliance measures to the AWS Cloud, including AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) as assessed in quizzes and AWS lab exercises. Create a virtual private cloud (VPC) by using Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) and determine the appropriate AWS storage service as assessed in quizzes and AWS lab exercises. Determine the best AWS DB service, then create and administer the correct database service for a given scenario as assessed in quizzes, AWS lab exercises. Implement instances of Elastic Load Balancing, Amazon CloudWatch, and Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling in support of an organization’s cloud needs as assessed in quizzes and AWS lab exercises. Monitor and optimize system performance and reliability given sets of requirements as assessed in case studies, quizzes and AWS lab exercises. Configure and troubleshoot the database environment when introduced to conditions and requirements as assessed in case studies, quizzes and AWS lab exercise
