Course Description

VMware vSphere 6.5 ESXi is the hypervisor underlying the vSphere suite. This course covers installation and basic configuration of VMware vSphere 6.5 ESXi and vCenter Server, and the options to connect to them for management purposes.

Learning Objectives

Install an ESXi Host

  • start the course
  • identify the different prerequisites and options available for installing the ESXi host
  • install ESXi onto a host system
  • use the DCUI to manage an ESXi host
  • use the ESXi Host Client to manage an ESXi host
  • use SSH, ESXCLI, and PowerCLI in ESXi administration

Perform a vCenter Installation

  • identify the different prerequisites and options available for installing the vCenter Server
  • identify the different prerequisites and options available for installing the vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA)
  • install vCenter Server
  • install vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA)
  • use the vCenter Web Client, vCenter Client, and Appliance Web Console to manage the vCenter environment
  • join an ESXi host to a vCenter Server or vCenter Server Appliance
  • use the vCenter Server Appliance to backup vCenter content

Practice: Configure ESXi Hosts

  • connect to the VCSA in order to join an ESXi host to vCenter
