This course provides the necessary foundation on network security and an in-depth review of commonly-used security mechanisms and techniques

Learning Objectives

The main components of network security. Classical encryption techniques and well-known block ciphers and their implementation. Public-Key cryptography, its applications, and well-known algorithms and standards. Hash functions and their applications as well as well-known standards. Message authentication codes and their applications as well as well-known standards. Digital signatures and their applications as well as well-known standards. Digital certificates and PK.I and their applications. Details of Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol and its applications. Details of IP Security (IPsec) protocol and its applications. Basic principles of firewalls and IDS systems. Perform hands-on configuration and experimentations with the above subjects
