Infotec offers a 40-hour Military Fiber Optics Installation Professional course. This course addresses the general criteria for using either military tactical fiber optic connector assemblies (TFOCA) or MIL-STD-2042()(SH) M28876 M29504 connector assemblies.
Students will be provided guidance on installation, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic systems in accordance with military standards. In addition, they will terminate Single Terminus (ST), Multiple Terminus (MT) and Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) connectors in accordance with Military Standards.
Successful completion of the program will result in the trainee being certified as a Fiber Optics Installer from Electronics Technicians Association and awarded a Military Fiber Optics Installation Professional Certificate of Completion from Infotec.
Learning Objectives
- Assemble a patch cord using anaerobic epoxy that meets or exceeds TIA/EIA-568-B.3 loss requirements for a mated pair (0.75 dB)
- Assemble a patch cord using oven-cured epoxy that meets or exceeds TIA/EIA-568-B.3 loss requirements for a mated pair (0.75 dB)
- Assemble a mechanical splice that meets or exceeds TIA/EIA-568-B.3 attenuation requirement (0.3 dB)
- Assemble a fusion splice
- Measure bi-directional loss in a splice with a light source and power meter
- Measure bi-directional loss in a fiber optic link with a light source and power meter using one of the TIA/EIA-526-14A methods.
- Measure the bi-directional loss in a mated pair with a light source and power meter
- Properly evaluate a connector end face as defined by TIA/EIA-455-57B. (MIL-STD-2042()(SH) Fiber Optic Cable Assembly)
- Assemble a MIL-C-83522 ST Connector
- Assemble MIL-T-29504 Pins and Sockets with Removable and Integral Back shell
- Assemble a MIL-C-28876 Multiple Terminus Connector 4 Fiber w/Straight Strain Relief (Tactical Fiber Optic Cable Assembly)
- Demonstrate TFOCA GENX Plug Type Connector Disassembly & Assembly
- Demonstrate TFOCA GENX Receptacle Disassembly & Assembly
- Demonstrate TFOCA I Receptacle Disassembly & Assembly
