Course Description

Digital Forensics Techniques for Weapons Systems explores the forensic investigation of traditional workstations, embedded systems, and networks. This class is ideal for military law enforcement and IT professionals. Students will learn how to acquire data, extract evidence, and analyze the evidence using freely-available open source tools, and will walk away with a working knowledge of operating such tools, including Autopsy, Volatility, and Wireshark.

Learning Objectives

  1. Conduct forensic data acquisition
  2. Analyze various storage mediums (volatile/non-volatile memory) and data sources (serial bus , network captures)
  3. Investigate simulated weapons system compromises
  4. Demonstrate the ability to conduct an end-to-end digital forensics investigation
