Narration: The National Initiative for Cybersecurity Careers and Studies, or NICCS, is the leading online resource for cybersecurity training, education, and workforce development tools. NICCS connects the cybersecurity industry with government employees, students, educators, and businesses throughout the nation. Our mission is to provide the tools necessary to ensure U.S. citizens and the workforce have a set of viable cybersecurity skills. NICCS bases all of its workforce development tools on the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, or, NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework. The NICE Framework establishes a common set of terms to describe cybersecurity work, making it easier for cybersecurity professionals to communicate knowledge, skills, abilities and tasks with employers, educators, and one another. NICCS features the NICE Framework Mapping Tool which connects cybersecurity positions to the NICE Framework. The mapping tool enables human resource professionals to create job descriptions throughout the framework's knowledge, skills, abilities, and tasks. The mapping tool helps managers to determine the best skill sets and possible gaps for their cybersecurity teams. The NICE Framework also supports the NICCS Education and Training Catalog which lists thousands of cybersecurity related courses for interested professionals. Our interactive map filters courses by location, specialty area, provider, and skill level. These courses help students and professionals increase their level of expertise, earn certifications, pursue a cybersecurity career, or transition between cybersecurity careers. Vendors and institutions interested in listing courses in the catalog can apply on the NICCS website. For U.S. government professionals and veterans interested in free training, NICCS features information on the Federal Virtual Training Environment, or, FedVTE cybersecurity training system. NICCS formal education section includes information on the National Centers of Academic Excellence Program, or CAE in cybersecurity. The CAE program promotes higher education and expertise in cyber defense. The CAE program designates colleges and universities across the country producing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals entering America's workforce. Students can also explore scholarships to pursue government cybersecurity careers via the CyberCorps Scholarship for Service Program. NICCS also helps U.S. K-12 teachers educate the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. NICCS users will learn about available materials, including, curricula, lesson plans, quizzes, and worksheets. NICCS also features a student's page with cybersecurity job profiles, recommended classes to take, and information on current workforce. If you have questions or feedback, email us at NICCS@hq.dhs.gov. NICCS is your one stop shop for education and career information.
