Course Description

This course introduces you to the basic operation of the Internet, the key protocols, their uses, how they are typically exploited and how you can protect a network that requires the protocol.

Learning Objectives

• Learn how data looks and moves across the network as data packets written to conform to specified “protocols” and sent to specific “ports” on a computer

• Learn about the Client-Server design of the Internet and specifically the Open System Interconnection, or OSI, model that is the general method used in the community to describe the specific Internet devices (e.g., routers, switches) used to form the network to send different data packages, called Protocol Data Units (PDUs) that are Ethernet frames and packets

• Explore the information provided in Wireshark and learn how to interact with the tool
