Course Description

Students will explore an introduction to the hacking methodology and network penetration testing using industry-recognized tools. This course is an introduction to the ethical and legal issues pertaining to network and computer security testing. Hands-on assignments will be used to help students develop introductory technical skills relevant to entry-level cybersecurity professionals, including demonstration of tools that can be used to gain information about a computer network, web applications, and databases. This course is intended for students with computer experience and an interest in cyber defense for private organizations.

  • Explain the hacking methodology and tools used to gain unauthorized access to computer or networked system.
  • Provide demonstrations to help students understand how to analyze and assess a computer or networked system to find vulnerabilities.
  • Explain ethical issues, laws, policies, and regulations related to appropriate computer use and network testing for security professionals.
