Course Description
This course will provide students with a thorough presentation of the various types of white-collar crime identified by our law enforcement community. Students will gain insight into the motives behind white-collar crime and methods used by white-collar criminals to pursue their criminal endeavors. Students will also be presented with enforcement strategies and techniques.
Learning Objectives
- Be familiar with the many ways white-collar crimes are committed
- Know the essential elements of many of these crimes
- Understand the evidence necessary to prove these crimes
- Have an informed opinion on the appropriate response in resolving these various crimes - punishment, rehabilitation, education, deterrence - in order to accomplish the traditional goal of the criminal law -protection of the public at large
